Whether you’re building your own brand, you’re doing some personal branding for you building your own self online. I think it’s very important to repurpose what you do. Why have to redo everything that you worked so hard to create? Just use what you’ve got and tweak it a little bit and use it for something else. This podcast and video today that’s available on YouTube is in response to a question that I received on Google Plus.

Transcript excerpt:
Hey. Do you want to know the best smartphone microphone for iPhone and Android? In this quick video, I’m going to review the Rode smartLav+ Lavalier. It’s all coming up, stay tuned.

You want to know what the Rode smartLav+ microphone sounds like, you’re listening to it right now. This video is being recorded on an iPhone 6s with the smartLav+ microphone plugged into the headset jack and the Lavalier is right here.

Now, because it’s ahead in the camera video and I’m really close it’s very convenient. That’s all I’m doing with this microphone, it’s the Rode smrtLav+ microphone. It’s about $79.99 I believe now, but it was well worth it because before I was using your Audio-Technica Lavalier which had a wire that was about 20 feet long. It was very cost-effective, but for me I just needed to be on-the-go with an easy microphone that I could just pop in and plug.

I didn’t need any go between where I had to convert the audio file that was being recorded which was what the case was while I was recording with the other Lavalier. This does everything the smartphone knows just what to do, knows to pick up the audio being recorded on the microphone from the headset jack.

I recommend this highly if you’re using smartphone if you want to do podcasting or if you just want to do videos like me. This is what it sounds like with the smartLav+.

This is what it sounds like without the Rode smartLav+, because you can hear a little ambient sound, you can hear a little bit more, maybe a call birds, maybe a truck passing by, but it’s really good when you can cancel out that noise especially if you’re doing a podcast or a video where you want attention to be totally focused on what you’re saying.

If you have any questions, post your comment below this video. Thanks for watching. See you next time.

Facebook Livestream Review – Pros and Cons for Business

Facebook LiveStream Pros and Cons for Business

In this video I share a Facebook LiveStream Review for business, especially repurposing content for social media. There are some things to be aware of, and the technology is not there quite yet, in my opinion.

Hey everybody. Live again here on Facebook. I wanted to go live just to fix the last video that I just did where I streamed sideways. I started out the video with my smartphone in the tripod, which I have right here. It was sideways, because a landscape mode is what I usually record in for any of my videos that I do on my smartphone for YouTube, and also my blog. I was sideways. Although I corrected it halfway through with Harry Miller’s kind suggestion because I was sideways on Facebook, I fixed it, and halfway through it corrected itself. Anybody viewing my video on YouTube was going to see my sideways. You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression, so I wanted to fix it right away.

In this video I just wanted to hop on just to try out a new way of repurposing my content by using the same piece of content, a video, across multiple social media platforms, which I am all about. You shouldn’t have to do something more than once to get real benefit from it, where more than just one person is watching and seeing your brand. With this video, it’s going to appear on my personal profile, then I can download it to my camera roll on my smartphone. Then I upload it to YouTube on my smartphone with my camera app on my iPhone 6S. I an upload it that way to Facebook or to YouTube, but I can also use the YouTube app to import. For myself, it’s just easier. I’m in the camera. I hit the up arrow, and then I shoot it over to YouTube.

If I needed to do any editing, I can do that beforehand. When I looked at this video – not this one, but the one before which was sideways in front – I said some things that I still wanted to be in the video. If I went back and edited it wouldn’t have been there, if I just deleted me sideways. That’s why I’m doing this video again.

Also, I got a little better lighting, because I’m facing into the clouds, which is giving me a nice diffuse light. Sorry. Always thinking like a photographer. I’ve got a little better lighting, and I’m also in a portrait mode. That’s one thing that I’m going to have to check out on YouTube, because all of my videos are recorded in a 1920 x 1080 pixel HD format video. This way, you’re recording portrait. It’s not going to fit into that size, so I’ll have to see how it looks.

We’ve got it on YouTube, then I’m going to take this file and I’m going to extract the audio from it with my audio extractor app on my smartphone, and then I’m going to use that as my podcast for Libsyn, which hosts my podcasts on iTunes, which is smarter online marketing.

Then, I’m going to do a couple of other things with it if I have enough time. If not, I’m just going to use this video as much as I can. Juice it like I want to. Don’t just do one thing with something. See what you can repurpose it as, and use it again so it lives on.

We’ve got Facebook Live, onto the smartphone, recording in a portrait mode, which is going to go into my camera roll once I finish this video with you. Thanks Terry for joining, and Aaron Flynn Miller. Appreciate you here. Also, I’m going to be able to pull that off and upload it to YouTube. We’ve got Facebook, camera roll, YouTube, and then I’m going to pull it off and do some other things with it. Like put it on my blog. I’m also extracting the audio from the video file on my phone to use as the podcast. Let’s hope, in this world that I am in, as a new mom – well, he’s 13 months, so not that new anymore – but still, it’s a full day. He’s sleeping now, and I’m just watching him on the nursery monitor. I’ve got my coffee ready, and before I could even sip I’m done with this video. That’s it. I’m hoping to do short videos, because who needs a long video when I can tell you what I have to in a short little one. That’s what you want too, right? You’re pretty busy, and you’re time is important.

I appreciate you watching today. This episode will be episode 112 on the Smarter Online Marketing podcast on iTunes, and also Stitcher. Thanks for joining me, and I hope to see you again soon. Bye now.
